Lithium Ion battery wins IBEX innovation award
Judged by marine writers, editors and book authors from the Boat Writers International, Mastervolt once again was recognized for outstanding innovation in the electrical category. Mastervolt won the prestigious IBEX Innovation Award for the revolutionary Lithium Ion Battery.
John de Rijk, who managed the development of the Lithium Ion battery from day one, Menno Ligterink and Michele Goldsmith of Mastervolt, Inc. accepted the award at the Industry Breakfast the final day of the show.
Many of the judges spoke of how the battery would advance onboard electrical systems, removing the time constraints of traditional batteries, and changing the conversation about how electrical systems are designed to the availability of kilowatts of power per hour.
They were impressed with the features, abilities, CANbus integration, weight and dimensions of this powerful battery. Lithium Ion Battery, the ideal replacement for a lead-acid battery, with a saving of 70% in weight and space.
In 2008, the MasterShunt won the IBEX award.
